The Park Hotel is a 3 star historic hotel right in the heart of the most emblematic district of Barcelona, the Born. The profusion of art, fashion, museums and inspired gastronomy have all fused in this fascinating quarter, where the unique historic flavour of Barcelona's Gothic era mixes with the cutting edge latest trends.
The hotel was built between 1950 and 1953 by Don Antoni de Moragas i Gallissà and then refurbished in 1991 at the hands of his son Antoni de Moragas Spa and Irene Sánchez. It was one of the first buildings from the “Neo-Rationalist” Movement in Postwar Europe and has been listed as a Catalan Cultural Heritage Site. Thanks to its structure, the structural elements on view in the composition of its façade and the materials used, the Park Hotel is considered to be one of the buildings of greatest architectural interest from the 1950's era in Barcelona.
En 2012, GCA Arquitectes Associats, with Josep Riu heading up the project, converted what was the old “ABaC Restaurant”, into an informal signature cuisine tapas bar, which also serves as the Park Hotel's Buffet Breakfast Area.
At the same time the Reception, the Hotel Bar and the rooms were all rethought and refurbished. The idea was to bring the whole building together with the same image; to stamp its identity throughout whilst integrating the interior design with the building's rationalist architecture.
In both the Reception and the Restaurant, the sofas designed by the building's original architect Antoni de Moragas have been used, reupholstered in an informal black and white fabric with a “zebra” design.
At Park Hotel our mission is to constantly strive towards expanding and improving the services we provide to our clients.
